As part of the Nation-building initiatives of
Church Arise! LivingWater Ministries, to continue “occupying” while awaiting
the imminent return of King Jesus, the LivingScience Foundation was registered
in 2016. The two-fold mandates of this faith-based
NGO were to promote the truth of scientific creationism against the lie called
evolution theory; and consequent to that, enhance public health via proper
appreciation and management of the beautiful and dynamic environment God has
blessed Man with. The activities of the LivingScience Foundation include public
education and enlightenment (from high schools to Universities and the general
public), sponsoring scientific research on relevant local issues, and promoting
communication between key stakeholders in environment-health through the
National Conference on Environment and Health (NCEH) series.
3RD NCEH: The third edition of that
Conference held successfully at the Redeemer’s University, Ede, on May 16 and 17. Apart from the usual scientific
presentations, there was an educative Quiz competition for students from 9 top
secondary schools (public and private, from Osun and Oyo states), an
undergraduate Essay competition, and a special award to a distinguished personality
who was adjudged to have made the most significant contribution to
environment-health in Nigeria in the previous year. This award, named after the environment-health
Icon, Prof A.F. Oluwole, was awarded to the distinguished Prof M.K.C. Sridhar
of the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan. Ibadan. The Honourable Minister for Health, Prof
Isaac Adewole sent in an inspiring goodwill message through the Commissioner
for Health in Osun State, Dr Rafiu Isamotu. Other dignitaries present included
Prof Debo Adeyewa, Vice Chancellor, Redeemer’s University and Chairman of Association
of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities. Please watch the summary of this
high-impact conference as captured by the NTA on our youtube channel here or check the Communique and power
point of presentations on the website of the LivingScience Foundation at http://3rdconference.lsfnigeria.org.
CETCON 2018: A week after the 3rd
National Conference on Environment and Health, on Thursday May 24, the LORD
enabled us again to host the 1st Campus End-time Conference (CETCon)
at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
The specific purpose of the Conference was to key-in into the several
prophecies through several servants of God over the decades that Nigeria will
yet be a praise on earth at the end-times.
In the manner of Daniel (in Daniel 9:2-3), we reasoned that considering
the lateness of the hour and the imminent return of our King, if these
prophecies were ever to be fulfilled, the time is now. Since most of the prophecies, for instance
through Pa Sydney G. Elton, specifically mentioned students of Institutions of
higher learning as critical players in the coming revival to situate Nigeria
into her destiny of leading the black race into global end-time relevance and righteousness,
we decided to stir up things up a bit on the Campuses in this respect, hence
the CETCON.
Four main speakers
addressed 4 key subthemes. Prof Joshua Ojo of the Department of Physics and
Engineering Physics at the Obafemi Awolowo University presented scientific and
sociological facts showing the utter bankruptcy of the Evolution theory and the
extensive havocs it is subtly wrecking in society. Pastor Samson Braimah of the
Crusaders Against Campus Cultism And Violence Foundation, Lagos spoke extensively of his sad
forage into the world of drugs and campus cultism before being marvellously saved
by the grace of God; and urged that the audience (parents and youths) to learn
on his dime. Mrs Adun Akinyemiju of the Christians in Higher Education (CHESS)
was represented by his able assistant, Pastor Segun Oludipe who used the
stories of Nehemiah and Esther to encourage members in the elite University
community to get involved in nation-building.
The high-point of the Conference was the message by Pastor Bosun
Emmanuel, secretary to the Nigerian Christian Elders Forum (NCEF) and National
Coordinator of the Social Christian Movement of Nigeria. The enraptured audience
unanimously urged him to speak for an additional hour, as he expounded on the
nature of the Kingdom of God, and how it could become established in Nigeria
with the active involvement of Campus Christians.
The CETCON was chaired by the distinguished retired
Professor of Physics and Chapel Coordinator at the Bowen University, Iwo,
Professor Theophilus Aro. Also leading a
strong contingent from the Redeemer’s University, Ede were Drs Fadiran and
Adedeji. We wish to single out the Redeemed Christian Fellowship and the Christ
Life Fellowship on the OAU Campus for very strong logistic support for the
Conference. Prof J.F.K. Akinbami of the
Centre for Energy Research and Development of the OAU was the able chairperson
of the self-sacrificing Local Organizing Committee. It is hoped that, while the
Lord tarries, the Conference will be an annual event. Please listen to audio
clips of Pastor Bosun’s message here on our blog at
churcharise.blogspot.com; and the videos (both summaries and full-length) of
the entire Conference on our youtube channel at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dz51wSNJL9I. . To join the Creation Science Society, kindly call Dr Dimeji Babatunde
