As
the serpent questioned the Word of God in the heart of the woman at Eden,
tantalizing her with the “knowledge” that makes one “god-like”, OSAS teachers
continue their beguilement of naïve innocent souls today. OSAS, short for “Once-Saved-Always-Saved” is
the heretical doctrine that dissuades Christians from resisting the devil or
sin (contrary to 1 Peter 5:8-9 and Heb. 12:4) in the false belief that it makes
no difference to their fellowship and union with the Lord whether they did or
not. So why bother?
How
great it would be if OSAS teachers in Nigeria would reach out to the killer-Fulani
herdsmen and their sponsors, for instance! Or the armed robbers, kidnappers, rapists,
drug-abusers, cultists, and the likes!
But no, the primary target of all OSAS preaching are youths and children
who have already indicated commitment to the Lord Jesus and a local Church. These, OSAS preachers insist, must be
correctly taught to enjoy some vague “New Creation realities” – which by the
way, are NOT demonstrated in the lives of those already indoctrinated into the
teachings!
As
for drug and sex dealers and their ilk, the doctrine of OSAS simply recommends
they ensure they profess faith in Jesus Christ at some time in their life, and
that is all! The mind-set or motives in making such profession, or the subsequent
lifestyle of those making it, apparently don’t matter a jot. Not even if they recant the next moment and
blaspheme the Lord Jesus, OSAS teachers insist all who follow such perverted
prescription are saved, and saved for ever! Clearly, in the world of OSAS,
playing the “Leah Sharibu” – risking valuable life by refusing to (even if only
temporarily) denounce the Christian faith – is totally meaningless!
At the core of
the OSAS doctrine is a monumental aversion to the concept of Obedience. This
straightaway exposes the spirit behind the doctrine as that of Lucifer. The hallmark of Lucifer-Satan is pride and
rebellion. Satanists openly venerate
Lucifer as being the only being that could “call the bluff” of the Most High,
and stand up to Him! That is why the
venerated symbol of Satanists is the goat.
Now when the
Bible says, as it does in Acts 16:31 and several other places, that the only
requirement for salvation is to believe in Jesus Christ, it is implicitly
understood that the one who so believes will necessarily obey his new Lord! As
Steve Curtis Chapman sang in The Call: “If we believe, we’ll obey!” Indeed, in the story in Acts 16, the Jailer
and his household went ahead to submit themselves, “straightaway”, for baptism
(Acts 16:33); just as the Lord instructed: “He that believeth and is baptized
shall be saved;” Mark 16:16
The
OSAS preaching pied-piper leading the Chris Onayinka Ministries (aka Saints
Community Church) not only rails against the concept of Obedience, he
disparages such life-impacting ordinances directly instituted by the Lord Jesus
for his disciples as Water Baptism and Holy Communion. Adding these to his central tenet that a
Christian MUST never confess nor repent of sin (see our special reports here, and here), the picture
is clear of a demon-inspired preacher bent on shutting the door of eternal life
against his audience by all means.
Obedience
is most certainly a core principle in Christianity. The Bible makes it very
clear that whereas demons believe in Jesus, acknowledge Him as Lord, and
tremble at His presence, the only problem is that they have no desire to OBEY
Him (unless of course, compelled).
“Thou believest that there is one God;
thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.” James 2:19
“And there was in their synagogue a man
with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, Saying, Let us
alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to
destroy us? I know thee who thou art,
the Holy One of God.” - Mark 1:23-24
“And it came to pass, as we went to
prayer, a certain damsel possessed
with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by
soothsaying: The same followed Paul and
us, and cried, saying, These men are the
servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation. And this did she many days. But Paul, being
grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus
Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.” Acts 16:16-18
Indeed,
the original problem at Eden has nothing to do with believing there was God or
not. It all has to do with trusting His
word enough to OBEY His instructions, despite aspersions being cast on that
word and His character. According to Phil. 2, the Lord Jesus came to undo that
original error in the Garden by OBEYING.
“Who,
being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
But
made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was
made in the likeness of men: And being
found in fashion as a man, he humbled
himself, and became obedient
unto death, even the death of the cross.” Phillipians 2:6-8
Christians
are enjoined to have this same mind as the Lord Jesus – in obedience (Phil.
2:5). Indeed, in Luke 6:46, the Lord
queries the incongruity of calling Him Lord and refusing to obey His
instructions:
“Why call ye me
Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?”
And
He settled the question of whether all who mouth “Lord, Lord” will indeed
inherit the Kingdom of Heaven when He declared:
“Not every one
that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” (Mat. 7:21)
So
what exactly is the grouse of OSAS teachers with obedience? In his teachings
tagged “New Covenant Realities”, Chris Onayinka equates Obedience with “Work”,
which of course is anathema, since everything is already paid for by the
hypergrace of Christ! Under the “hypergrace”
doctrine, absolutely no condition or conditionality must be attached with a
“gift”, for any such conditionality, when fulfilled, will supposedly confer on
the receiver a right to say they “earned” the gift! Absolutely ridiculous!
Thus,
obedience is declared loathsome not only in the matter of salvation, but also
for any other product associated with salvation. Otherwise, in the perverse logic of Onayinka,
that product is no longer being offered FREE of charges.
In
other words, imagine that some equipment is custom-designed for me and offered
free of charge. The logic of Onayinka
would insist that it would tantamount to a round-about demand for payment and “conditionalities”
if the kind donor should attach a User’s Guide to facilitate optimum experience
with the product!
Onayinka
went ahead to boldly illustrate his crap with specific examples. Taking healing
for example, Onayinka contrasts healing with conditionalities of the Old
Testament with that supposedly offered by hypergrace in the New. He began by citing Exodus 23:25:
“And ye shall
serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread and thy water; and I will
take sickness away from the midst of thee”
He
then threw his bombshell: “Healing here is conditional upon your obedience of
the laws. It was NEVER free.” (see
Chapter 2 of C.S. Onayinka, New Covenant realities, 2015. 19pp.) Plain meaning:
“obedience” is a sort of payment!
He
then goes on to assert that healings in the New Testament has absolutely no such
instructions attached! Onayinka
apparently has no problem with making bold statements that can very easily be
falsified. Perhaps he doesn’t expect his
disciples to do any independent thinking or checking out of facts! Surely,
anyone could see that his bold pronouncement flies in the face of several
examples in the Scriptures, many directly by the Lord Himself. For instance in the healing of the man born
blind, the Lord instructed him to go
wash his face at Siloam (John 9:7), and the ten lepers were instructed to simply
go show themselves to the priests (Luke 17:14). And so on. Healings in these cases only happened on due
compliance with given instructions; and it is utterly ridiculous equating these
acts of obedience to payments! In a
hospital setting, no one would suggest the doctor should not receive his due
payment simply because the patient has been given some instructions to be obeyed. Obedience is NOT payment, goodness me!
It
is incredible that a supposed man of God would challenge this basic principle
of life and Scriptures. The Bible is
literally littered with instances of people needing to both TRUST AND OBEY
before they could enjoy the benefits on offer – both in the Old and New
Testaments. In the miracles of supplies,
we see in John 2 the Lord’s mother advising the folks: “whatever He says, do”.
Thereafter the Lord’s instruction was that jars be filled with water before
they were provided with wine. Peter had
to follow given instructions, launching out into the deep and letting down his
nets before the draught of fish in Luke 5, and similarly casting his hook
before getting the tax money in (Mat. 17:27 ).
How ridiculous to disdain obedience, equating it to “Work” or Payment!
Having
attacked the key
mechanisms set up by the Lord to bless His people, concepts like Repentance and
now Obedience, Onayinka is not done yet.
He moves on to attack other basic blessings provided for believers and
necessary in these ravaging end times.
It
is no surprise that Onayinka would join the now simmering satanic rage against tithes
and offerings – the Lord’s gracious
standard
against economic failure in the current fake world order crafted by the devil. One only wonders why people would not see that
whereas no one is ever forced to pay tithes or offerings in a regular Church,
if they are not so convinced; no one may attend the Conventions and special
meetings of these eloquent anti-tithes teachers without paying specified steep registration
fees! And that would be in addition to overblown payments for other services
and products!
No,
Onayinka’s fury is beyond tithes and offerings.
His latest objects of attack are the Holy Communion and Water Baptism.
Onayinka
disparagingly refers to the communion bread as ordinary “baked unleavened bread”
which “profits NOTHING”. This, notwithstanding
that in handing out similar ordinary baked flour, the Lord expressly pronounced
“this is my body”, and instructed it be so received by the believer. Moreover the Lord instituted its perpetual
observance till He return when He said “do this in remembrance of me”,
affirming his death till He returns (1 Cor 11:23-26). In the world of Chris Onayinka, all the
breaking of bread by the disciples (including the one at midnight to close the
valedictory all-night meeting in Acts 20:7-11) were nothing but regular meals.
The disciples knew better than to be observing Holy Communion, he insists!
Apostle
Paul however firmly differs. He actually affirms point-blank that the bread
which was being broken regularly for example by the Corinthian Church
represented the Body of Christ:
“The cup of
blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The
bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? “1 Cor.
10:16
The
same mindless and pointless attack is directed at Baptism. Expressly commanded by the Lord as part of
the great commission (Mathew 28, Mark 16), Onayinka still finds new “insights”
from his Greek studies to show that baptism in water is totally meaningless for
his new creation followers. In other
words, the baptism the Lord commands at His departure is different from the one
He himself received and practiced during His ministry (Mat. 3:16 John 4:2).
Likewise in the pervert teachings of Mr Onayinka, the exposition on
baptism in Rom 6, or the extensive practice of it by the disciples (eg. Phillip
in Acts 8:36-38, Peter in Acts 10:48, Paul
in Acts 9:18, I Cor. 1:16. etc) are all our ignorant simplistic readings. No
“knowledgeable” new creation Christian practices baptism, he insists!
This
is how Onayinka summarises his position on water baptism, and the holy
communion:
“We have the
MINDSET of Christ! This means the
explanation of all things is in Him!
Hence we no longer hold baked bread as the broken body of Jesus…..
“So we must
learn to receive the finished work without doubts. Let’s grow up and stop depending on the
feeling of water to know we are baptized, for the feeling of oil that we are
anointed, or the taste of flour that we are healed or the wine that we are
forgiven. We are men of faith…” (ibid)
And
so the audacious sweet lies continue, and undiscerning young folks gullibly
help this false teacher amplify his vain janglings to their complacent and
elite colleagues across South West Nigeria.
Souls that the Lord has appointed to lift Nigeria into her destiny as a
great nation and light for the entire world in the endtime are currently
languishing in captivity to false teachers.
Please
pray!
Post script: Does God take His Salvation
away from People?
The
Lord is the author of Eternal Life. He
never takes His salvation back from anyone.
Indeed, He ensures that not even the devil can take it from us (John
10:29). Yet, as Rev Kenneth Hagins
succinctly points out, God will not stop anyone from rejecting the salvation,
or throwing it away if they should want to so choose. God never tampers with this free will He gave
to men. Otherwise there will be
absolutely no basis for judgements or rewards.
Although
many OSAS teachers claim Kenneth Hagins as mentor, they with utmost impunity
disdain his clear teaching on this most important subject of unconditional
security of eternal salvation. This is how Kenneth Hagins put it:
“I believe in eternal security as long as you stay in Christ. He is able
to keep you secure. But just because you are a son of God does not mean you are
not a free moral agent. You still have a will of your own, and you can choose
to stay in Christ or to forsake Christ altogether.”
