Nations” by the West
So-called “poor nations” (actually resource-rich nations, impoverished
by Western manipulations), have continued to be the sole market for
mercury-laden vaccines. That is decades
after those same products have been proscribed for use, on safety grounds, in
the nations producing and gifting them out.
One of the founding goals of the LivingScience Foundation was to
sensitize the populace and generate an outcry against this incredible evil. Amazingly, it turned out to be a herculean
task convincing Nigeria’s elites and intelligentsia, to refuse such tainted products.

At the beginning of the year, the U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS)
Secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr, announced that unless Gavi (the multinational
company involved) stopped this unconscionable practice, not only would the US
not release some $600 million pledged to that organization for her operations,
the US will actually permanently end any
support to Gavi. Few weeks to the end of
the third quarter, after which the fund will automatically be mopped up, and following
very tense negotiation mediated by a US Senator, Gavi caved in and promised to review

Sadly,
we must now warn Nigerians that ending the addition of mercury to vaccines for
African children should not be considered yet as a fait accompli! There are precedents of authorities agreeing
in theory to some policies, which then drag on infinitely without implementation. Actually, one of these has to do with this
same vaccine issue.
In
May 2012, years after it has been
scientifically established beyond any iota of doubts that the Oral Polio
Vaccine (OPV) is dangerous, and the western world had proscribed its use, the
65th World Health Assembly conscience-stricken in part, and for other reasons, made a unanimous call
for its proscription world wide. Nigeria’s
health authority had no choice but to agree to this proscription. However, it
insisted on a phased transition. It is not clear the premise for such unscientific
and unconscionable decision – possibly to exhaust the stock of OPV? In any case, the transition from OPV to the
much safer and effective Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV), which
started in 2015, after much feet
dragging, is still going on today, a decade later! Consequently, million doses of the useless
and even dangerous OPV continue to find their way into the bodies of Nigerian

This
then should explain our concerns that Gavi’s capitulating to RFK might not be
the end of mercury-in-vaccines for Nigerian children, unless local interest and
pressure is sustained. If the Nigerian elite would still refuse to wise up to
