A Peep at the coming 11th NCEH

Text Box: The Iconic Osun State University, Osogbo

What should participants expect at the coming 11th National Conference on Environment and Health?  Robust informed engagement of the Conference theme, Networking with high-valued key Stakeholders, and a resulting Communique spelling-out concrete actionable recommendations for uptake into our national life for better public health and ultimately, sustainable development of our country. [An additional perk is that Participants who wish, will also have the opportunity to give their presentations accelerated peer-review, for possible publication in the companion Nigerian Journal of Environment and Health.]

Two nationally-recognized leaders in the field of Food production and Food processing will serve as the arrow heads of the Conference with their keynotes.  Prof Olayinka Karim’s background is in Agriculture  - she was once Dean of Agriculture at the University of Ilorin, before her current engagement as the Vice Chancellor at Fountain University, Osogbo. Prof Kehinde Taiwo, on the other hand, has her background in Food Technology.  She was once Dean of Technology at the Obafemi Awolowo University, and has held, and still holds, several sensitive responsibilities at the University and elsewhere.

Other distinguished Speakers will lead discussions on various topics relating to the Foods and Food Value Chain industry.  Prof Amos Fatokun, one of Britain’s top pharmacologist-neuroscientists, (from the Liverpool John Moores University, UK) will be bridging agriculture, technology, and public health with his presentation on biochemical mechanisms of action, thus clarifying possible clinical outcomes, including carcinogenesis, of the various scenarios to be considered.  Here are the tentative titles of the invited talks:

Kehinde Taiwo -  Bread comes from the Earth: Processing and Preservation for a Safe, Resilient and Health-Promoting Food System in Nigeria

Olayinka Karim - Safe Foods, Healthy Nation: Safeguarding Food Systems in Nigeria from Farm to Fork
