Introduction
For the records, we again present
as we do at the beginning of every quarter, a list of Islam-inspired killings recorded
in Nigeria. The reasons we do this is
first to identify with our afflicted brethren and ensure that their sufferings
are not overshadowed by political and economic considerations. And also to keep the Church alert to the
realities of our times; and hopefully learn to take appropriate actions -
including watching, praying, and advocacy, as necessary, so as to stem future occurrences
of such satanically inspired incidents.
As usual, our report is largely
extracted from the global compilation published on The Religion of Peace, TROP (https://www.thereligionofpeace.com/.)
TROP describes itself as a “non-political, fact-based site which examines the
ideological threat that Islam poses to human dignity and freedom”. It
emphasized that the data captured “are not incidents of
ordinary crime involving perpetrators who happen to be Muslim”, but “deadly
violence that is reasonably determined to have been committed out of religious
duty or sanction - as interpreted by the terrorist.”. Additional data were
taken from Stefanos Foundation’s Newsletter, https://therisinghope.substack.com/
The 2nd Quarter 2025
Data
Five hundred and twelve (512) terror
events from 28 countries were captured by TROP in the 2nd quarter
(April 1 – June 30) of 2025. Nearly one quarter of these (121, 24%) were
recorded in Nigeria. The Nigerian incidents
were far more deadlier on the average, and accounted for 1,144 deaths which is 37%
of the total 3,111 deaths reported globally. Apart from those killed, 437
others were wounded and maimed in Nigeria during these 90 days! (see details in
the Table)
Compared with the figures from the
first quarter, (497 killed and 118 wounded and maimed in 69 Islam-inspired attacks),
these second quarter figures represent a 75% increase in incidents, and 130% more
fatality.
It is believed that this horrible surge
is related to politics – both local and global.
We have mentioned before of international conspiracy fueling instability
in Nigeria, particularly in the food basket regions. The forthcoming 2027 elections has presented additional
avenue for globalists to further their agenda using desperate narrow-minded local
politicians. As bluntly affirmed by Borno State Governor, Babagan Zulum, the “terrorists”
have “informants and collaborators” within both the Nigerian armed forces and the
politicians. (https://punchng.com/we-have-boko-haram-informants-among-politicians-soldiers-zulum/).
The data clearly reveals that there are two main targets for
these terrorist acts. These are Farmers
(irrespective of religious affiliations) and Churches.
Often to clear the path for these atrocities, military
formations standing in the way are first attacked! Such incidents included the simultaneous attacks
in the late hours of Tuesday, 24th June, 2025, on the Forward operating bases
of the Nigerian army at Kwanar Dutse, Mariga Local Government Area, Niger state,
the Gulunbi Boka Forward Operating Base, as well as a third Base in Kaduna
State. Attributed to “Bandits” the attacks, though
successfully repelled, cost at least 17 soldiers their lives.
Earlier on 12th May, in Borno State, several
soldiers were killed or kidnapped in an attack attributed to ISWAP terrorists,
at the Forward Operation Base of the 153 Task Force Battalion, Marte Local
Government Area. Next day, it was Boko
Haram terrorists who reportedly attacked the army bases in Rann, Gajiram and
Dikwa resulting in the death of 4 soldiers. Security
Watch - 16th May 2025
The seeming coordination in these nearly simultaneous attacks
on military bases at different locations, by supposedly different terrorist
groups, gives credence to the suggestion that there is central coordination by unseen
instigators hidden somewhere.
The TROP acknowledges that not all the attacks could be
captured on their website, due to their not being reported by mainstream press.
These include cases of “simple” kidnapping, abductions, and extortions. For instance, not captured is the abduction
of more than 8 female worshippers by Lakurawa bandits who invaded a Church
service at Danko Wasagu Local Government Area, Kebbi State on Sunday, 18th May
2025. https://dailypost.ng/2025/05/20/how-lakurawa-invaded-church-kidnapped-female-worshippers-in-kebbi-lg-chairman/
Similarly, not captured are the abductions of Pastor Samson
Ndah Ali of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), [from his residence in
Mararaba Aboro, Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Tuesday April 8] nor that of Rev Fr.
Ibrahim Amos who was kidnapped in Kaura Local government Area on 24th
April. Both were soon released on
payment of ransoms. In the case of
Pastor Ali, the church’s financial secretary, who had gone to deliver the
ransom money was allegedly held back by the kidnappers, presumably because the
payment was short of the N100 million earlier demanded. https://dailypost.ng/2025/04/11/kidnappers-release-ecwa-pastor-in-kaduna-hold-ransom-negotiator/
In all these things, we are more than conquerors through Him
that loves us.
Shalom
