ON WORLD POLIO DAY 2026, LIVINGSCIENCE FOUNDATION APPEALS FOR A CESSATION TO THE ADMINISTRATION OF OPV IN NIGERIA

Synopsis

Today Saturday 24th October, on World Polio Day 2026, the LivingScience Foundation calls for immediate cessation of the use of Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV), as has been strongly advocated by the World Health Assembly since 2012.  Even if it were just one polio case that would be prevented in Nigerian children by some intervention, the LivingScience Foundation would still have been reluctant to criticize such an intervention.  However, an intervention (such as the OPV) which is KNOWN to create more polio cases (albeit given a different fancy name) than it would prevent just does not make sense to us.  No manner of technical jargons can obscure the simple fact that the very same OPV which Low and Middle Income countries are being persuaded to administer to their children en masse, has been withdrawn from the High Income Countries, for decades  –  purely on consideration of safety and effectiveness. On the often-cited issue of costs, the LivingScience Foundation urges that the Federal Government should prioritize the resuscitation of our Federal Vaccine Production Laboratory at Yaba, Lagos, which had successfully served as the hub for vaccine production in West Africa for over 50 years (1940 – 1991), before it was sabotaged by western “philanthropists who promised an upgrade that never came.

We welcome Nigeria to the World Polio Day 2026.

Poliomyelitis (commonly known as “polio”) is a highly contagious disease caused by the poliovirus. Targeting the nervous system, it can cause irreversible paralysis or even death.

To date, the primary product used to combat the spread of polio in Nigeria is the Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV), administered as 2 drops into the child’s mouth.  LivingScience has issues with the continued use of this product on our dear children, and hereby appeals for immediate cessation to its use.

In strongly promoting the use of the OPV, the international group End Polio Now bluntly claims that:

“The use of OPV has helped reduce global polio cases by over 99% since 1988, and it remains a vital tool in the effort to end polio everywhere.” https://www.endpolio.org/en/what-is-polio  (italics added)

The first big question is: where exactly is the “everywhere” where the OPV “remains a vital tool” in the war against polio?

It turns out that, actually, it is less than half (112 – 120 out of 248 – 256) nations and territories that are still using OPV today. It is indeed more accurate to say that the OPV is predominantly used in the “global south” - with Nigeria being a principal client for the suppliers (who happen to be in “global north”.

On the other hand, another type of polio vaccine, the Inactivated Poliovirus Vaccine (IPV) is exclusively used in routine immunization schedule of the wealthy nations, such as the “United States, ….New Zealand, and various high-income, low-risk European and high-readiness nations…..”

The reason the wealthy nations STOPPED using OPV (the US since year 2000) is that the use of OPV is GUARANTEED to result in more polio cases.

Which brings us to the second big question: What polio cases are being reduced?

Surprising question, because in reality polio is polio.  However, in technical discussions by global health authorities, distinction is usually made of the original polio (wild polio) and the polio that results from the use of OPV (vaccine-derived polio).  Could have been amusing if not for the gravity of the issue!

https://www.endpolio.org/en/what-is-polio

Notwithstanding that End Polio Now actually tags the vaccine-derived polio (cVDPV) as “Variant polio”, the “V” in “cVDPV”  indeed actually stands for “Vaccine” and not “Variant”.  It refers to polio arising from the deployment of the OPV. Simple.

Perhaps, there are then some differences between these two “forms” of polios?

None whatsoever!

Men of courage and conscience have repeatedly called out this farcical situation, asking that the use of OPV be proscribed globally.

A landmark peer-reviewed article in Qeios explains concisely the problem with OPV:

“For individual children there has always been the risk of vaccine-associated paralytic polio (VAPP). For the community, the increasing risk has been genetic reversal of live vaccine viruses to neuro-virulent ‘vaccine-derived polioviruses’ (VDPVs) which cause polio far more frequently than VAPP and to ‘circulating VDPVs’ (cVDPVs) that are essentially wild polioviruses”

https://www.qeios.com/read/X0N956

An enlightening open-review and summary of the technical article is found here: https://www.qeios.com/read/YLUIU9

In addition to the possibility of causing in the short-term, polio in individual children, and the certainty of its causing what is called the circulating vaccine-derived polio, Oral Polio Vaccine is also known to cause in the long-term (between 15 – 30 years) what is known as the post polio syndrome

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post-polio_syndrome#:~:text=Post%2Dpolio%%2020syndrome%20(PPS%2C,after%20a%20nonparalytic%20polio%20infection%20.

These then, are precisely the reasons the wealthy nations stopped the use of OPV, reverting back to the IPV – the much safer vaccine, which developed in 1955, became sidelined by the then promising new OPV which debuted in 1961.

However, principally because the continued use of OPV in the third world countries means that polio (especially vaccine-derived polio) can still circulate to other nations, the World Health Assembly, in May 2012, joined in the appeal for a global cessation of the use of this product.

The resolutions and decisions are provided in document WHA65/2012/REC/1, https://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/wha65-rec1/a65_rec1-en.pdf

Nigeria, at that time one of the three polio-endemic nations, concurred with this decision; and in 2015 introduced the IPV with the promise that the phase-out of the OPV was on the way.

The report by the WHO reads, in part:

Abuja, 20 February 2015 -- Nigeria has introduced the inactivated polio vaccine (IPV) into the nation’s routine immunization schedule at a ceremony presided over by the supervising Minister of Health, Dr Alhassan Khaliru which was attended by the WHO Country Representative (WR), Dr Rui Gama Vaz and other development partners such as UNICEF, USAID, CDC, DFATD – Canada among others, in Abuja on 20 February 2015. IPV is very safe and highly effective in preventing paralytic disease caused by all three types of polio viruses.

In May 2012, the World Health Assembly declared the completion of poliovirus eradication to be a programmatic emergency for global public health and called for a comprehensive polio endgame strategy. As one of its four major objectives, the plan calls on all oral polio vaccine (OPV)-only using countries to……… withdraw OPV in a phased manner, starting with type 2-containing OPV.

Speaking at the launch, the Minister stated that the triple benefits accruable from the use of the IPV include risk mitigation against wild poliovirus type 2, boosting immunity against types 1 and 3 as well as tackling the risk of circulating vaccine-derived poliovirus (cVDPV).

……… Substantial progress has been made in recent years towards polio eradication with no case of WPV1 being reported in the last six months and no reported cases of WPV3 since Nov 2013. …….. However, there was an increase in circulating vaccine derived polioviruses cVDPV type 2 in 2014 with 30 cases reported.

https://www.afro.who.int/countries/nigeria/news/nigeria-introduces-inactivated-polio-vaccine-routine-immunization-schedule#%3A~%3Atext%3DAbuja%2C%2020%20February%202015%20%2D%2D%20Nigeria%20has%20introduced%20the%20inactivated%20polio%20vaccine%20(IPV)

Sadly, more than a decade after this initiative and promise, another World Polio Day has met us in Nigeria still fighting our battle against “Polio” with 4 doses of OPV and 2 doses of IPV.  This drama needs to end. Now.

Extracts from WELCOME ADDRESS DELIVERED BY DR. ADENIYI SAMUEL OGINNI, AT THE MAIDEN INDUCTION CEREMONY AND SYMPOSIUM OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH, RUN, EDE ON 12TH OCTOBER, 2026.

WELCOME ADDRESS DELIVERED BY DR. ADENIYI SAMUEL OGINNI, PHD, MPH, MBCHB. FNIM, THE AG. HEAD OF DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH, FACULTY OF BASIC MEDICAL SCIENCES, REDEEMER’S UNIVERSITY, EDE, AT THE MAIDEN INDUCTION CEREMONY AND SYMPOSIUM OF THE DEPARTMENT HELD AT THE UNIVERSITY AUDITORIUM ON 12TH OCTOBER, 2026.

Vice Chancellor, sir, principal officers of our great university, my amiable, indefatigable and ever supportive Dean, our royal father, distinguished guests, proud parents, faculty members, and above all, our trailblazing, pioneering inductees—I welcome you to the maiden induction ceremony of the Department of Public Health, Redeemer’s University, Ede.

Today marks a historic milestone for our university. More importantly, it marks the day we send a formidable task force of health advocates, disease-prevention specialists, and equity champions out into a nation that desperately needs your expertise. You are not just graduating; you are being inducted into a sacred covenant with humanity.

……………………………………………………………………

To give this maiden ceremony the academic and clinical depth it deserves, we have incorporated a vital symposium into today’s proceedings, titled: "Vaccinations in Nigeria: Problems and Prospects." This theme was carefully chosen in response to the controversies surrounding vaccines and the activities of Big Pharma globally, and in the interest of fulfilling our obligation to furnish the public with accurate information to help them make informed decisions about their health.

………………………………………….. We operate in a world of deep systemic hurdles, public skepticism, and geopolitical health inequalities, especially between the global North and South. We cannot discuss the prospect of vaccinations in Nigeria without addressing the controversies surrounding vaccine safety.

Recently, we witnessed a monumental, historic pronouncement by GAVI (Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation, now called the Vaccine Alliance) regarding the systematic removal of harmful heavy metals from vaccines sent to Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs). But did GAVI just wake up and decide to reverse this trend on their own? The answer is a capital NO.

This policy shift was the direct result of relentless, uncompromising pressure from conscientious public health specialists—including some of us standing before you today—who examined the data and demanded equity. For years, when we raised scientific concerns about the disparities in vaccine formulations between the global North and the global South, we were demonised. We were called "anti-vaxxers." We were dismissed as "conspiracy theorists" and subjected to all sorts of professional labels. But we stood our ground. I recognise Prof. Joshua Ojo, a Professor of Health Physics at the Obafemi Awolowo University, who is here present, with whom we established the NOMANDATORYVAXNAIJA Movement.

We chose truth over convenience. And today, GAVI’s capitulation is our absolute vindication. This victory belongs to the unyielding voices that refused to let global health double standards place the lives of African children at a lower premium. It provides us with a powerful prospect—a clean slate to rebuild public trust, dismantle hesitancy, and ensure that the vaccines entering Nigerian communities are held to the highest global safety standards.

My dear colleagues and graduates, this hard-fought battle at the global level exposes a fundamental truth that hits dangerously close to home: it is impossible to build a safe, trustworthy shield of prevention when the system itself refuses to value it.

……………………………………………………….

The philosophy underpinning the Nigerian National Health Policy is undeniably unambiguous: prevention must be the bedrock of our national health development. The policy dictates that primary healthcare and preventive frameworks—like robust, equitable immunization structures—should serve as our frontline shield.

Yet, the tragic paradox we witness daily is a systemic, deep-seated curative bias.

As a nation, we have routinely neglected public health and preventive services in favour of expensive, late-stage curative interventions. We pour disproportionate investments into building magnificent tertiary hospitals to manage advanced diseases, while our primary healthcare centers—the true custodians of community health and vaccine delivery—are starved of funding, basic cold-chain data infrastructure, and manpower. I call this the 90:10 Paradox of Health Financing. Just about 10% of health resources - money, manpower and infrastructure- are targeted at the health needs of 90% of the population, while 90% of these resources are targeted at institutions catering for just about 10% of the population's needs.

What is the price of this domestic neglect? The price is written in our national health indices.

…………………………………………

Vice Chancellor, sir, distinguished guests, when you treat the sick without fixing what made them sick in the first place, you are merely mopping the floor while the tap is still running. Our current healthcare system is buckling under the financial and structural weight of preventable illnesses. This is exactly why the roles of today’s inductees are non-negotiable, if our health system must improve.

Standing on this historic platform, I must raise a critical voice to the powers that be. I am using this medium to make a passionate, urgent plea to both the executive and legislative arms of government.

It is time to match political rhetoric with structural reality. We cannot expect to change Nigeria's poor health indices or successfully run nationwide vaccination frameworks when the very experts trained to prevent diseases are marginalized in public service. I call on our lawmakers and policymakers to review and reform the Nigerian Scheme of Service. Give public health professionals their rightful relevance, clear career pathways, and proper placement within the civil service structure. If prevention is truly our national health policy, then the public health professional must be empowered as a primary actor in the Nigerian workforce.

To our inductees, as you stand today in partnership with the Society for Public Health Professionals of Nigeria (SPHPN)—a body fiercely dedicated to advancing the development of public health in our nation—remember that you are entering a professional vanguard of impact. You are being sent out to correct this national imbalance. Your job is to pull our health system back toward its original promise: true prevention.

Let the GAVI capitulation be your first real lesson in public health leadership. The world may label you when you stand up for data, equity, and ethical standards, but your duty, as conscientious public health professionals trained in no less a faith-based citadel than our Redeemer’s University, is to the populace, not to the convenience of global institutions, local complacency or political correctness.

Breaking News: Vaccination on the Table as RUN inducts First set of Public Health Graduates

It was the dawn of a new season for public health in Nigeria, as for the first time in a formal mainstream academic setting, Vaccination was disrobed of its deity status, and made the subject of serious scientific discourse.

The event, on Monday 12th October, was the induction of the first graduates in Public Health from the highly regarded Redeemer’s University (RUN), Ede, Osun state.  RUN with her world-renowned Centre of Infectious diseases, is undoubtedly one of the topmost Universities on the African continent – particularly in the field of public health. LivingScience Foundation had the pleasure in participating at the special Symposium that examined the topic "Vaccinations in Nigeria: Problems and Prospects."

Though comprised largely of various health professionals who believe that Vaccination is the best thing that ever happened to public health anywhere in the world, without exception, everyone agreed that the positioning of vaccination as the unquestionable silver bullet for all health issues is terribly wrong, and is leading to rational vaccine hesitancy.

For instance, the seasoned and highly regarded keynote Speaker at the Induction programme, Prof Ganiyu Aarinola expressed dismay at a situation he has frequently observed in the field: of malnourished babies, infested with helminths (intestinal worms) who are nevertheless having vaccines administered to them.  Prof Aarinola was blunt in insisting that such would be an exercise in futility as those vulnerable subjects already have seriously compromised immune systems that would not benefit from vaccination.

Many of the distinguished Panelists and audience, were also learning for the first time from the contributions by the LivingScience, that the continued administration of Oral Polio Vaccine to millions of Nigerian children is against the direct recommendation of the World Health Assembly (WHA) that the product should be withdrawn from public use.  Most developed countries had proscribed OPV for decades, before this recommendation from the WHA in May 2012.  After dragging feet for three years, Nigerian health authorities announced a phased removal of OPV from use, to be replaced by the globally accepted Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV).  Sadly, till date, that “phased removal” is still ongoing with Nigeria children receiving 4 doses of OPV and 2 of IPV according to the official schedule.  Not only is OPV guaranteed to generate, in the immediate, polio outbreaks in thousands of the children population (sadistically and euphemistically termed Vaccine-derived Polio); fifteen to thirty years ahead, at least eighty percent of the vaccinated subjects must prepare to be confronted with the  debilitating so-called Post Polio Syndrome.

LivingScience Foundation seized the opportunity of the Symposium to distribute free copies of our Special Report on Vaccination to the audience. Materials from the Special Report have also been condensed into Book Markers which were also distributed at the event.  To download the Special Report, please go to https://lsfnigeria.org/vaxreport And for the Book Marker, go to  https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VdZO7TrrA8lZuMRiVG6lRAzGfyut85Yd/view?usp=drive_link

WHAT’S IN A NAME: AI OR SI?

One of the significant, even if underreported, events at the recent UN General Assembly (UNGA) was Donald Trump’s calling for the replacement of the word Artificial Intelligence (AI) with Super Intelligence (SI).  He explained that, among other reasons, the word “artificial” sounds belittling.  The capacity of the phenomenon and its promises, in Trump’s opinion, deserves to be better addressed as Super Intelligence.  He had actually started the discussion on his Truth Media where he got his Followers to poll their opinions.

It is not unlikely that there is more to this innocuous development.  In the same speech at the UNGA, The Donald had forcefully declared his opposition to any form of global government, declaring at one juncture “And while I'm President, there will be no global taxes.”

So, what’s in a name? the truth is that the global government guys put a lot of premium on names, and it is their stock-in-trade teasing the rest of the world with their name and number games. Such was Bill Gate’s patent for a cryptocurrency system using “body activity data” being filed with patent no 06-06-06.  As Yuval Noah Harari, one of the key spokespersons for the global governance movement clearly affirmed, AI is actually reflecting “Alien Intelligence”, and should be so recognized.  In our book, Surely I come Quickly, we elaborated on the satanic scheme to flood and take-over the world by “aliens”.

This pattern was best demonstrated during COVID-19, the grandest adventure of the globalists, so far.  Contrary to the impression that the name COVID-19 stands for CoronaVirus Disease -2019, as announced by the WHO on February 11, 2020, it is a simple verifiable fact that the very name COVID-19 had been registered long before it serendipitously showed up to mark a plandemic!  Indeed, a post on Duran Newsletter, citing official government records,  showed that patents for a “COVID-19 vaccine” (exactly so-named) had been filed long before COVID or its nomenclature emerged!  Play on names seems the globalists sadist way of poking fun at the rest of the world,

LivingScience Foundation endorses Trump’s Super Intelligence.  As a matter of fact, with our creationist perspective and believe in a supreme living Creator, we have long insisted on promoting something better than even Trump’s SI.  That is Supernatural Intelligence (SNI). [see Preface to SICQ].  Those who have had some encounter with the infamous “AI hallucination” will marvel at the “artificial” authority and air with which it returns complete fabrications as genuine answers to requests.  Donald Trump’s SI envisions greater capacity far better than AI, as clearly spelt out in his Executive Order 14434 on the issue.  However, we insist that SNI trumps them both, and is available to every child of God. Imagine such capability that enabled Daniel to recall the dream someone else had had overnight, and predicting with perfect accuracy events set to happen a couple thousand years away!

Good luck to those who wish to be stuck with Artificial Intelligence, (or worse still, Alien Intelligence).  As for us, we confront the emerging new world, not just with Super Intelligence (SI), but with Supernatural Intelligence (SNI)!

11th NCEH Booting…..

 11th NCEH Booting…..

By the special grace of God, virtually all is now set for the 11th edition of the National Conference on Environment and Health.  The Conference series is meant to fill two critical gaps that surprisingly persisted in Nigeria as late as 2016.  First was the need to stop treating key Environment-Health issues in silos with different specialties not conversant with developments in related ones. The second was the need for local stakeholders to own the enterprise and stop taking conflicting counsels dictated by various foreign stakeholders, often with different hidden agenda and interests.  To the glory of God, the Conference series is gradually chipping at this anomalous situation. Now emerging is a new culture of transparency, trust, and collaboration among different key local players spanning the academia, professional bodies, government agencies, and industry – with all considered as equal invaluable partners.  Seats are also reserved at the table for respectable members of civil society to come witness and participate at the proceedings.

This emerging scenario of course also allows the Conference to set her own agenda, based on identified priorities for the nation.  This has informed the various themes chosen for the Conference over the years, addressing such issues as One Health (inextricably linked with Gain of Function research), GMOs in foods, Industrial air pollution, Pesticides abuse in agriculture, Electrosmog pollution associated with the telecommunication sector, and use of Mercury as preservative in some Vaccines.

The first seven editions of the Conference held at the Redeermer’s University, Ede, where it was nursed to maturity.  Other editions have since held at the Precious Cornerstone University, Ibadan; the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife; and the University of Ilesa, Ilesa. The 11th edition is set to hold at the iconic Osun State University, Osogbo in less than three weeks time.  We are grateful for the management of these Institutions for graciously sharing our vision, and whole-heartedly partnering to host the Conference.

We are proud to note that patronage of the Conference has cut across the whole spectrum of stakeholders in the Environment-Health sector.  Our participants have included Federal Cabinet Ministers (highest level of government policy setting), and Recipients of the Nigeria National Order of Merit (NNOM) – the highest national award given for excellence in the academia.  At the same time Pupils from High Schools are brought in via a Workshop/Quiz competition which gives them early exposure to the use of the scientific method for addressing sustainable development issues, particularly in the Environment-Health sector.  Other key features of the Conference include the AF Oluwole Prize, awarded to distinguished professionals, in recognition of their contributions to E-H issues in Nigeria, and the newly instituted Arc Gbolahan Fowora Environmental-Health Advocacy challenge for undergraduates.

STOP PRESS: Submission of Abstracts for presentation at the 11th NCEH has now been extended to Wednesday 14th October!  To make a submission, visit https://lsfnigeria.org/abstract_submission_11th_nceh

A Peep at the coming 11th NCEH

Text Box: The Iconic Osun State University, Osogbo

What should participants expect at the coming 11th National Conference on Environment and Health?  Robust informed engagement of the Conference theme, Networking with high-valued key Stakeholders, and a resulting Communique spelling-out concrete actionable recommendations for uptake into our national life for better public health and ultimately, sustainable development of our country. [An additional perk is that Participants who wish, will also have the opportunity to give their presentations accelerated peer-review, for possible publication in the companion Nigerian Journal of Environment and Health.]

Two nationally-recognized leaders in the field of Food production and Food processing will serve as the arrow heads of the Conference with their keynotes.  Prof Olayinka Karim’s background is in Agriculture  - she was once Dean of Agriculture at the University of Ilorin, before her current engagement as the Vice Chancellor at Fountain University, Osogbo. Prof Kehinde Taiwo, on the other hand, has her background in Food Technology.  She was once Dean of Technology at the Obafemi Awolowo University, and has held, and still holds, several sensitive responsibilities at the University and elsewhere.

Other distinguished Speakers will lead discussions on various topics relating to the Foods and Food Value Chain industry.  Prof Amos Fatokun, one of Britain’s top pharmacologist-neuroscientists, (from the Liverpool John Moores University, UK) will be bridging agriculture, technology, and public health with his presentation on biochemical mechanisms of action, thus clarifying possible clinical outcomes, including carcinogenesis, of the various scenarios to be considered.  Here are the tentative titles of the invited talks:

Kehinde Taiwo -  Bread comes from the Earth: Processing and Preservation for a Safe, Resilient and Health-Promoting Food System in Nigeria

Olayinka Karim - Safe Foods, Healthy Nation: Safeguarding Food Systems in Nigeria from Farm to Fork
