In the ninety days between January 1 and March 31, marking the first quarter of 2025, sixty-nine (69) attacks inspired by Islam, were reported in Nigeria. Four hundred and ninety-seven (497) people were killed in these senseless attacks, while another one hundred and eighteen (118) were wounded and maimed.

As we always remind that although these attacks were inspired by Islam, the victims cut across all religions. In fact, there is the credible speculation that the attacks carried out under the guise of Islam are actually meant to simply destabilize the food supplies in the country, and pave way for genetically-modified foods, for instance. This is corroborated by the fact that the deadliest attacks in the quarter, on Sunday 12th January at Dumba in Borno state involved the killing of 147 mostly beans farmers at the Chad basin. Boko Haram elements rounded up the farmers and fishermen, separated the men from the women, and shot them at close range.
