NIGERIA: UNDERSTANDING THE ISSUES – PROFFERING SOLUTIONS (By Bosun Emmanuel)

My name is Bosun Emmanuel. I am appealing to you to kindly read this short article. Thank you.
I wish to commiserate with every Nigerian Christian on the various calamities befalling us in Nigeria. It is unfortunate that we have to experience this distress, but it was avoidable. Over the years, we Nigerian Christians have been unable to unite and harness our enormous potentials for the Common Good of all. However, it is better late than never that we embark on remedial actions. The consequence of maintaining the current attitude of disunity and indifference is eradication of Christianity, our culture, our ethnic identity, and the annihilation of our lives. Therefore, we have no option but to commence building structures to engage those determined to destroy us.
At the onset, I have at the back of my mind the contentious and argumentative nature of some of us. In an attempt to look liberal, civilized, rational and logical, some Christian elites have often ended up burying their heads in the sand like ostrich. Many of us deny the obvious and spend a lifetime living in denial. That should stop. The handwriting is clear on the wall. For someone like Pastor Adeboye, who traditionally sees no evil and speaks no evil, to cry out and complain it should be clear the issue has gone beyond “be careful”.  A prominent Church leader described most Christian elites as “ignorant and arrogant”. Many Christian elites do not understand the issues but they pretend that because they are educated, they know all things. They are “ignorant and arrogant”.
Our objective is to start a Movement to defend Democracy. All we need is to ensure that Democracy survives in Nigeria and everyone is safe. What Nigeria is going through is a Constitutional crisis and not a fight against corruption. Fight against corruption is diversionary. The real war is against the Constitution. The game plan of the Islamists is to make Sharia the source of legislation in Nigeria, over and above the Constitution. Once they achieve that, Christianity and Christians are gone. Every indigenous ethnic nationality in Nigeria is gone. These include the Muslims in the South who are exceedingly more “ignorant and arrogant” than Christian elites. They too, would be eradicated, after they have been used as pawns.
I have spent the past two years in the best school in the world - learning at the feet of the Elders. As the Secretary of the National Christian Elders Forum (NCEF), I have learnt a lot from Christian Elders from all the geo-political zones in Nigeria and I want to share the knowledge and also use it to provide credible, functional, result oriented direction for the Nigerian Christians under the guidance of NCEF.
You may not be aware, but the National Christian Elders Forum (NCEF) is an arm of Christian Social Movement of Nigeria (CSMN). The first structure built by the Christian Social Movement is the NCEF to give counsel and direction (I am currently the Secretary of both CSMN and NCEF). I have the direct mandate of the NCEF to commence work on building a Movement of Christians, and other freedom loving Nigerians, to stand in defense of DEMOCRACY in Nigeria. If we do not succeed, then bondage, in the form of Sharia, shall capture the land.
I am inviting you to join the Movement. Together, we are strong. There are many Christian groups doing various things in different corners. Let us harmonize and forge a single indivisible force with common objective. We all want a nation where JUSTICE, EQUALITY, and FAIRNESS prevail. Not one group can do it alone. We need to harmonize and receive direction from the Elders. Since the Christian Elders represent all the geo-political zones, no part of Nigeria would be left out.
The Movement we are going to build is spiritual, political, economical, social, educational, and protective. Every Christian resource shall be deployed to defend Democracy in Nigeria. Once Democracy triumphs, the following are guaranteed: justice, equality, fairness, freedom of worship, freedom of choice, and freedom of association, accountability, and transparency. All these will translate into peace, progress and prosperity for our people.

HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?
1.       Please visit www.csmnigeria.org and register. Kindly put functional email and telephone number. As you can observe, this article is titled #1. More will follow. If you are already registered, thank you. (However, only those who register on the Movement will receive subsequent information.)
2.       Please spread the word. We need to get every educated Nigerian Christian on this Movement. Politics is a game of numbers. However, do not use Social Media. For now, no Face Book, no WhatsApp, no Instagram. Let us quietly gather strength. Email is better since you know your contacts. Word of mouth, SMS, and email are better.
3.       We need money. Lots of it. However, individual contribution is self determined. Anything from N100 monthly is okay. Yes, you can give annually and there is no limit to what you can give. (Presently, Prof. Ben Nwabueze, SAN and Mr. Solomon Asemota, SAN, have joined Dr. Nwankwo Tony in court to challenge Sharia. Even though the elderly SANs are working pro bono, there are still other legal expenses.) Do not forget the media. It will cost a lot to get the Christian narrative out into the open, locally and internationally. A lot of lawsuits are pending.
4.       The account number is: Christian Social Movement of Nigeria, Zenith Bank, 10 14 13 83 50
5.       Yes, we are going to build structures. The structures will be national, zonal, states, local, professional, fellowships, youths and so on.
6.       No, we are not going to start a political party. However, we aim to harmonize Christian resources and potentials into an indivisible force, identify a political party that satisfies Christian interests and negotiate.
7.       Yes, you can forward this message to your Christian contacts. For now, we want to keep it within Christians. When it is strong, other citizens committed to democracy can join.
Please JOIN US.

Democracy without a democratic culture is a failure.

A country where the Intelligence Agencies control most, if not all non-government organizations (NGOs), professional bodies, such as the Nigeria Bar Association, Medical Association, Trade Unions, Media etc, weakens democratic institutions established to check tyranny in the land. The Military had compromised these institutions, weakened party politics by ensuring that Nigerians have the right to vote, but only parties controlled by the Islamists can be voted for as Independent Candidacy is not allowed.

Today, there are about 40 political parties in Nigeria. The Islamists are in control of ALL through proxies. Christians do not have a single political platform that can represent their interests. Most of the Christians in Government are mere proxies of the Islamists. The Islamists appointed them. When Christians cry out that Christians in Government are not representing Christian interests, it is because they do not understand the issues at stake.
To ensure that their hold on Nigeria is not broken, a fundamental right of citizens was abolished in the 1999 Constitution. Under the 1979 Constitution, Nigerians had the RIGHT TO VOTE and RIGHT TO BE VOTED FOR. It was based on this Constitutional “right to be voted for” that Dr. Tunji Braithwaite launched his independent candidacy under the National Advance Party (NAP) in 1978/79.

In the 1999 Constitution, the RIGHT TO BE VOTED FOR has been removed. Nigerians only have the right to vote, citizens no longer has the right to be voted for. This is a democratic aberration. In Nigeria today, you can only be voted under a registered political party. Meanwhile, all registered political parties, including INEC, are controlled by the Islamists. So, how do you get a Christian President, or Christian Governor, or Senator, or Member of the House of Rep that is independent minded and not a proxy of Islamists?

This is why Christians must build a Social Movement that will be powerful to demand true change. This is why you are needed to reach out to your friends and acquaintances, and your friends reach out to their friends, to join the Christian Social Movement.
